Sunday Stuff

Eric and I were out running some errands today. While we were at the Christmas Tree Shop (yes, he voluntarily went there with me!) we saw this display. Isn't it a hoot! We saw Gary's name first, then Greg's and thought that was funny, then Eric noticed his name on top. I had to take a picture of it. 

And good news... the lawn guy mowed the lawn!

And Eric has been busy working the annual TelAuc. One more weekend after this, then he's home-free.

Oops

I just realized I haven't posted anything lately. Sorry about that! There's really not a whole lot going on. Which isn't a bad thing. 

The above photo will be our "before" shot. The after shot will come next week when we have 6 of those trees removed. It will be pretty obvious in the group of trees to the left of the house. (To the left in this image.) 4 of those trees will be gone, including that one in the middle that looks like it's starting to fall by itself.

Eric is doing well. He's still pretty pooped after a full day of work. He's also been working longer hours/days since TelAuc started last week. So he's extra pooped because of that. Also, his hands and feet are still numb. His appetite is back, as is most of his ability to taste foods. He's eating pretty well. And gaining some more of the weight back.

Poor Jenny. Our lawn guy still hasn't mowed our lawn. We're "that house" on our street. It's really sad. We'd mow it ourselves if we had a mower. Eric put a call into the lawn guy tonight. We don't even know if he's still in town. He's cut our lawn for 8 years, you'd think he'd give us a heads up if he wasn't coming back! Hopefully we'll  hear something soon. Really soon would be nice.

The cruise countdown is down to 30. Getting closer!!

Jazz Night

Last night we spent the evening at the Blue Moon Grill's "Under the Moon" watching a local jazz band. We've been several times, it's always a nice evening.

This time we brought Bob and his wife Robin. I think they enjoyed the evening too!

Good food, good friends and good music, a perfect mix!

The countdown is at 35 days. We've been "collecting" summer clothing and other items we'll need. The tickets are printed, the luggage tags are ready to go. I even picked out the books I'll read on the balcony. Oh and I got Eric some new "cruise wear." We're not excited about vacation or anything...

A Beautiful Evening

We had "date night" last night. On a Tuesday! We went to a very extravagant restaurant (Wendy's) for a quick bite to eat on our way to the theater.

And then we headed to the Landmark Theatre for the wonderful musical, Beautiful. The music was fantastic, and I really enjoyed the story of the life of Carole King and how they integrated it with her music. It was great! Highly recommend it, if you ever get a chance to see it.

Easter Sunday 2017

We had a great Easter dinner at Gary & Paula's house today.

Saturday Stuff

We took advantage of a break in the weather today for a walk around the neighborhood.

Yep, that's right. We're exercising and getting healthier!

Clear!

Eric got the all-clear today. What a huge relief. I know we were both pretty nervous. But it was all good news from the doctor. We got to look through the scans as he explained things, everything looked good. Eric's next visit is July 12th for some blood work and then a follow up with the doctor on the 13th. Then he has to have another colonoscopy shortly after that. But until then, we get 3 months of just enjoying life. 

Monday

I caught someone feeding Jenny sweet potato fries tonight... that's ok though. I took Jenny on 2 walks tonight to offset the extra calories.

Eric had a CT scan today. We're anxiously awaiting results. He has a follow-up appointment with the oncologist on Wednesday afternoon, we're assuming we'll hear results then.  Send all your positive thoughts this way!!

Adventures in Oswego

It was the nicest day of the year so far and Eric suggested we go to Rudy's!

Who am I to say no to Rudy's? 

  

We both enjoyed a great lunch by the lake. I had clam chowder and a fried haddock sandwich, Eric had a chicken sandwich with fries and a root beer. It was so nice to be outside! 

It was a little chilly by the lake, but it was close to 70 degrees further inland. 

Eric took lots of pictures today.

After Rudy's we stopped by to see the "raging" Oswego River. It was crazy!

After our Oswego visit, we stopped by to see Sheila who just returned from Florida. She was thrilled to get to see Eric. And he was happy to get a big hug from his mom. 

National Beer Day

Apparently today was National Beer Day. What a perfect day to crack open the fresh bottle of Cape Cod Beer that's been in our fridge since September! 

It was just as good today as I remember it was back in September. And now we can't wait to get back to the Cape again. 

Walking Weather

The weather was cool, but nice this evening. We had a nice walk around the neighborhood. Notice we have no snow. The buds are out and the grass is getting greener.

I told Eric I need to start getting into shape to make sure my bathing suit still fits for the cruise. He said he needs to eat more, so his bathing suit doesn't fall off.

This was his lunch today. Maybe the bathing suit will stay up if he eats more lunches like this! It was his first "fast food" in many, many months. He said it was pretty good and he tasted everything. He also didn't eat dinner since this filled him up. (Along with the M&Ms from the vending machine.)

Random Stuff

Poor Jenny. No, she wasn't hiding because she was bad. She was actually in pain. I took her for a couple of walks on Sunday, and by Monday morning she was in some serious pain. Those old bones and joints are giving her some problems. She was shaking and having a hard time walking. Things managed to work themselves out by the evening and she went on another walk. I don't think she can handle more than 1 walk a day anymore. We'll have to start being more careful with her.

In other random news:

-We're getting a quote for some more trees to be removed. I put red ribbons on 6 trees tonight. Hoping to clear out more of that forest that is our backyard.

- The Mini is in the shop. We're a 1 car family until it's fixed. Not sure exactly what's wrong. The oil light and engine light were on. Eric was concerned it might be serious ($), I'm hoping it's not.

- Eric is currently napping.

- April the Giraffe is still pregnant.

Social Butterflies

We were up on "Tipperary Hill" last night having dinner at Coleman's Irish Pub with Bob and his wife Robin. "Tip Hill" is the Irish section of Syracuse, for those not familiar. 

Bob and Eric were both looking good! It was so nice to hang out with Bob and Robin in a "normal" place, that wasn't a hospital or infusion center. And we think we've convinced them both to join us at the Cape in September! (Well, the beaches, sunsets, and lobster dinners might have had something to do with it.)

This was the Creme Brulee we had for dessert. It didn't quite beat The Retreat's Creme Brulee, but it was still quite delicious. 

Friday Night Fun

Last night we met John and Louise for some food and drinks.

It was John's birthday!

And look who also happened to be there. Gary and Paula! (and Laura, not pictured)

Louise wasn't mad, she just didn't know she was in the photo. 

It was a fun time! 

And in other news, we were upgraded to a suite for our cruise!!!
