Running is a Dangerous Sport

* * * Warning: Graphic Image Below * * *

Alex took a fall today at cross country practice. On his face. I guess he wasn't really running. He was kind of fooling around, waiting to go on a run. But still, he was at practice... I took him to urgent care. This was the nice doctor cleaning him up. There were thankfully no breaks, no concussion, no broken teeth. Nothing too serious....

There might be a few scars though. But, he'll be ok. And he'll be a little more careful from now on. I hope. Me on the other hand, it might take awhile longer to recover. I did after all, pass out in the exam room. They were ready for me though. They said that many moms pass out when their kids are laying all bloody on the exam table. So I guess I'm normal. And I'm always able to embarrass my poor son, anytime, anywhere.

Week in Review

We've had a busy week this week. Here's a quick re-cap of our activities...

Monday evening, our company hosted a "Chiefs Night" at the local ballpark. It was a nice event and always fun to catch a baseball game. (I posted more photos on Facebook if you'd care to see more.)

On Wednesday, a friend of ours was performing with his band at a park in the village. It was a lovely evening to sit out on a blanket and listen to great music.

On Friday, our company had a clam bake. Yes, I ate LOTS of clams. I had to eat Eric's share of clams too! Sadly, I think I might have been able to eat more. I love clams. It was a fun afternoon, and made even more fun because we didn't have to work!

And this morning, Alex ran the Harborfest 10k. He had a great run. He came in 4th place overall, with a time of 39:39. The 10k ran at the same time as the 5k, so it was a little confusing at the finish to know who ran what. There were about 250 in the 5k and about 75 or so in the 10k. Here's the results if you'd like to see them.

He even got a 1st place medal for being first in his age group. (He was technically 2nd, but one guy ahead of him got a trophy for being in the Top 3 overall... so that guy didn't get a medal since he got a trophy...)

He was pleased, and even had a bit of a smile.

Lucky 7

We helped celebrate Kelly's 7th Birthday today. She had a pizza party with her favorite snacks and pizza.

Kelly did a great job reading all her cards, with a little help from Grandma Sheila.

Kelly reading Diane's adorable card.

Kelly unwrapping her new bean bag chair. It was wrapped in a dollar store shower curtain. Hey, two gifts in one!

Kelly loved her ZuZu pets. (I think it's some sort of hamster thing.)

Sheila made yummy cupcakes.

Happy Birthday Kelly! Hope you had a fun weekend!

Post Cruise Post

I know, it's been awhile, huh? Sorry. After our fabulous vacation, it was back to work for all of us. Haven't been up to anything worth blogging about. I did post the vacation photos to Facebook if you haven't seen them yet. Here's a photo album that I made on Shutterfly.

Vacation

Had a fabulous time at Greg and Diane's house. They are such wonderful hosts. Getting ready to head down to S. Weymouth for a reunion with Eric's friend Vic. And a fun visit with Amy & Robin and meeting little Jellybean.

Will be sailing tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing the Tall Ships in Boston Harbor. Not looking forward to the traffic...
