The Cape, Day 4

And the weather just keeps getting better and better! We decided to hit the beach again today. I really can't believe how lucky we have been in the weather department. It truly has been an amazing week, especially after the entire month of June (and first week of July) was a total wash-out here.

This was my view for awhile this afternoon... peeking out over my book to watch Alex building sand castles...

I also watched a few ships go through the canal... there is a Coast Guard station on the Canal. I imagine this ship was heading there.

Eric's friend Vic (friends from High School) came to visit us. He brought his son Ben with him. The above photo includes Alex taking a snack break, Kelsey texting on her phone, and Eric & Vic chatting away... The beach we went to today was much better than the busy public beach we went to on Sunday. This one was free and it was semi-private. We found a secret entrance while we were out on our morning walk/jog...

Ben caught a bucket full of baby crabs. He found them hiding under rocks.

Ben and Alex built a sand castle... and I think they were having the baby crabs live in the moat.

After a day at the beach, we went out for ice cream at our favorite ice cream place. Isn't that a cute name for an ice cream shop!?

Kelsey got a gigantic ice cream in a waffle cone. The flavor was "Celtic Pride"... it was kind of like a mint chocolate chip... I think Eric was impressed. (He also got a waffle cone, except with Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream instead...)

The Cape, Day 3

Today's weather was spectacular. I don't think there was a cloud in the sky all day. We all decided to take a trip up to Provincetown for the day.

P-town is always interesting... to say the least! There's always something interesting to see... and so many interesting people to watch.

Eric took another self-portrait...

And I snuck in a self-portrait too!

Alex posed amongst the kites at the Kite Store.

We went to a great candy store.... and bought some Salt Water Taffy.

And had lunch on a deck overlooking the ocean...

We met "Willy" the Cardigan Welsh Corgi... who reminded us of Jenny...

Then we went to Cape Cod Lighthouse.

Where I posed for a photo....

Then we went back to Sandwich and had dinner at the British Beer Company.

They make excellent pizza! It was another terrific day at the Cape!

The Cape, Day 2

This is our rental house for the week. It's perfect inside. Just enough space for everyone. All the amenities that we all wanted. (Internet, washer & dryer, a/c... ) It's really cute and beachy, and has been recently renovated. The only downfall has been the beach situation. The last couple of times we've rented a place, it's been right on a private beach. This is across the street from a public beach. We love the house, but we probably won't rent it again next time. We were pretty spoiled with the private beach right outside our front door... we miss that!

Eric and I went for a great walk this morning. Down to the Sandwich Boardwalk. It's such a neat area. Sand dunes and marshes and a nice public beach...

We can see the Cape Cod Canal from our kitchen window, which is pretty neat. We saw a giant tanker going through the canal this morning, with the help of a very cute tug boat.

We also spent a few hours at the beach in the afternoon. Eric took a photo of himself, of course.

This is Alex's lonely boogie board... it (and Alex) were wishing the water didn't feel like the Arctic. It didn't get much use today. I could barely put my feet in the water, it was seriously cold.

Here are the kids hanging out on the beach. They did eventually try out their boogie boards in the frigid water... My fun beachy romance novel is sitting on the cooler. ("Castaways" by Elin Hilderbrand...)

And what's better than cleaning off sand from the beach in an outdoor shower??
Oh and later in the evening, after we went out for ice cream, Eric and I took another walk (to work off the ice cream)... I decided I want to live in this house. Isn't it adorable??

The Cape, Day 1

After much anticipation and excitement, we finally arrived at the Cape for our summer vacation. I'm not going to go crazy with the photos, but I'll try to post a few every day. Then maybe I'll put together a Kodak Gallery with all the photos from the week in it when we return...

As usual, the Bourne Bridge had quite a back-up... that was really the only traffic we encountered all day. The weather was amazing all the way. Look at that beautiful blue sky!

After we got the keys to our house, unpacked, and got groceries, we went to our usual favorite local eatery, Seafood Sams. This is the first of many cups of clam chowder that I hope to eat this week! Clam Chowder is my absolute favorite food.

We went for a walk on the beach after dinner... this looked heavenly. Tomorrow is supposed to be a spectacular weather day, so we're hitting the beach for the day!

Twittering Fool

I did it. I joined the Twitter revolution. I wasn't going to. I really wasn't. However, one of the blogs I read sort of intrigued me into poking around. I've been reading this woman's blog for about a year now. She's currently pregnant and was 2 weeks overdue. Today she finally went to the hospital and posted an announcement to her blog. She said she wasn't going to update it anymore, and would only post updates to her Twitter account. So being the nosey stalker that I am, I had to find out more!

So one thing led to another and I'm already following 14 people. I'm not sure exactly how that happened, but it did. And I've even posted a couple of tweets. I swear I really wasn't going to get involved in the Twitter world... but I must admit, it's kind of fun.

And if you have a Twitter account and would care to follow me, here is my page. I'm already following a few people who read the blog. My email address book "magically" connected me to several people I know who are on Twitter... they make it so simple for us!

Oh and the woman that got me hooked on Twitter? Just had a baby girl...

Back to Work

I had a great week off last week, and now I'm back at work. Which also means, I'm blogging less. It was nice having extra time to blog every day, and having interesting things to blog about. But I returned to the real world. For a few days anyway... I'm already counting down to the next vacation! And it's coming up pretty quickly... we're already starting to pack! So stay tuned...

I forgot to post about the birthday party we went to on Sunday at Chuck E. Cheese's. It was Haileigh's 8th Birthday. Eric took his usual self-portrait of himself with the Chuckster... (I couldn't resist posting this on the blog!)
