Farmer's Market

I guess you could tell it was back to the grind this past week. Not a single blog post. Sorry! We had a pretty quiet week.

And this morning I got the urge to go to the Farmer's Market. We hadn't been all year. Eric brought his camera. He took more photos this morning than he did the whole week we were at the Cape!

The fruits and vegetables all looked wonderful.

And since I'm pretty much the only one who will eat vegetables (aside from corn), I really only bought a little bit. Alex isn't here this week, otherwise I probably would have bought more...

I didn't even see the Sweet Potatoes... I would have bought some!

"Can you get me a pickle?!"

Mmm.... hot peppers...

This is everything I bought. 4 ears of corn, 2 green peppers, 4 tomatoes, 3 cucumbers, 2 zucchini, 1 squash, 2 limes, a bunch of green onions and a box of blueberries. All for only $8. I'm going to be having great salads for lunch all week!

And then there were the donuts..... I think that's really what got Eric to go with me!

Tonight we're going to have dinner at The Retreat. It's our 2nd Anniversary! Hope you're all having a fabulous weekend too!

Goodbye, Cape Cod

Alex had to have one more look at the ocean before we left the Cape. It was the first foggy morning of the week. Seemed fitting...

Hopefully we'll be back next year!

Cape Cod 2010, Day 7

Our last full day on the Cape started with a great walk.
This is the view from the road of our cottage.

Alex and I went Mini Golfing. We've been driving by this Mini Golf place for years, and this is the first time we've been.

It was a great course, I got 3 holes-in-one! (Alex got 2!) We ended up in a tie at the end.

For dinner tonight, we went over to the Websters house for pizza and cake. It was Chris's birthday. So we sang Happy Birthday to him and had a tasty Carvel Ice Cream cake for dessert.

The kids... still obsessed with their DS games.

The yummy cake.

Melissa and Dana had lots to talk about, they share a mutual interest in horses.

The crazy Webster clan! It might have been all the sugar making them act this way... or maybe it was the fact that it was our last night of vacation. It was a fantastic week. We are all sad to see it come to an end, but we have a life time of memories (and hundreds of photos). And hopefully we can all get together again soon!!

Cape Cod 2010: Day 6

The morning started out doing some necessities. Like laundry. I did 3 loads. All at once. I kind of like that!

After the laundry, it was a perfect day to sit on the beach.

I finally started my beachy romance novel. And watched a Seagull have lunch.

Alex and Eric flew kites.

Then we met the Websters for dinner at Hemisphere Restaurant on Town Neck beach. This was the view from our table.

Alex and I at dinner.

Our beer with dinner. It's actually Blue Moon, not Cape Cod Beer. I love the cups though!

Then we went over to the Sandwich Boardwalk.

And watched a beautiful sunset.

Here are the Websters. Dana, Heather, Evan and Chris.

The kids enjoyed running around in the soft sand of the marsh.

We even saw the moon rise. After the boardwalk, we headed to Ice Cream Sandwich for our favorite dessert. And where my camera battery died...

Cape Cod 2010: Day 5

Day 5 was shopping day. The women took off to the boutiques and souvenir shops while the men and children had another beach day. Of course my favorite Cuffy's was on the list of places to shop. And my favorite jewelry store Mrs Mugs was also a must-do. We found a few other neat shops along the way too. We all left a good amount of tourism dollars to the great state of Massachusetts.

We also enjoyed another fabulous BBQ at Mike and Melissa's and it rained a teeny bit. Not too much to spoil the fun, but it gave us this beautiful double rainbow. Then we watched Nature's Fireworks over Martha's Vineyard after the sun went down. They must have had a heck of a thunder/lightning storm! I'm glad it missed us.

In other non-Cape news, you must go check out The Daily Corgi. You'll never guess who the featured Corgi of the day is!

Cape Cod 2010, Day 4

Alex and I took a trip by ourselves to Martha's Vineyard. The big boys went into Boston with Vic, who had a gig to perform. The other women and children also did their own thing. (I'll post photos from Vic's gig next week when we get back, Eric took some really nice ones.)

This is the approach to Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard.

Alex really wanted to rent bikes, so we did. I must say it was a LOT of fun! A little hot... but a lot of fun. I pretty much let him lead the way, wherever he wanted to go.

Our first stop was this lighthouse. This is the one we saw on the way into the harbor. It's called East Chop.

Here I am with a beautiful ocean background... on a perfect afternoon. (Doesn't Alex take a nice photo?)

Here's Alex pointing out the lighthouse.

We rode back down to the harbor.

Where I ate the most amazing Lobster Roll ever.

We ate a place called "Nancy's", this was the view from our table.

Then we came across the Gingerbread Houses. We felt like we stepped into an episode of the Twilight Zone. There were hundreds of these little cottages.

They were so adorable. And each a little bit different.

The woman who owned this house let us sit up on her porch and she told us the story of the cottages. Apparently back in 1800's, they had Methodist Camp Meetings in this town, which was called Wesleyan Grove at the time. People used tents and would flock to this town for several weeks at a time, every year. Eventually, the little cottages replaced the tents and became permanent summer homes. They are all owned by people and are not rented out to tourists. There is a huge outdoor church in the middle of all of the cottages where they still hold worships. And they allow all religions now, not just Methodists.

It was one of the neatest things I've ever seen!

After touring the cottages, we went to an Aquarium.

These were our bikes. I absolutely loved mine! It's so much easier to ride then the one I have at home.

When we got back from the Vineyard, we had another wonderful cookout at Mike & Melissa's cottage. Heather prepared some appetizers and side dishes.

Another great dinner! Pictured are Chris, Dana, Ben, Alex, Evan and Heather.

Eric having a nice conversation with Dana and Henry.

The boys all together. Mike, Vic, Eric and Chris.

Gorgeous campfire on the beach. (Melissa and Mike are pictured behind the giant flames.)

The kids play their Nintendo DS's by the campfire.

Eric's giant burnt marshmallow. Just the way he likes 'em!
